Dorothy L. Beck

Dorothy L. Beck,93, of Melcroft, went home to heavenly reward on March 15, 2018. She was born Dec. 12, 1924 in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Clark L. and Mildred Young Plyler. Dorothy was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She worked for many years cleaning various residences and businesses. She was a part time cook at Mom's Valley Inn for many years. She taught the nursery class in Sunday School at the Scottdale Assembly of God for over 21 years. She helped with the funeral ministry providing meals for many families. She enjoyed quilting and embroidering and spent many hours making beautiful things for her family and friends. The last few years Dorothy attended the Indian Head Church of God and attended the Calvary Assembly of God in Connellsville, with her son, the last few months of her life. She is survived by her son Paul A. Beck and wife Robin of Scottdale, her grandchildren Paul A. Beck, Jr. and wife Ashlee of Poolville, TX., Amber Beck of Scottdale, David Hodge and wife Kristen of Haverhill, MA., Philip Hodge and wife Rachel of Allentown, along with Donald Hodge son-in-law of Watsontown, her 13 great grandchildren, her brothers and sisters, Doris Randall (her twin sister) of Greensburg, Alverda Milliron, Leonard (Ruth) Plyler, Eleanor(Herb) Wharton, and Darrell (Shirley) Plyler all of Punxsutawney, Helen McMillen of Home,PA., Thelma (John) Kitner of Dillsburg, Wayne(Janet) Plyler of Indiana,PA., and Blair (Joyce) Plyler of Meadville. In addition to her parents Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Merle D.Beck in 1991, 2 sons Larry D. Beck in 1959 and Edwin D. Beck in 1973, and a daughter Phyllis Charlene Hodge in 2014. Family and friends will be received Sat. from 6-9 PM and Sun. from 2-9 PM in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., at the corner of Route 711 and 146 Municipal Building Rd., Melcroft (724-455-2310). Additional viewing will be held Mon. from, 9 -11 AM, the hour of a Funeral Service In the Indian Head Church of God, 691 Indian Creek Valley Rd., Indian Head PA. 15446, with Rev.
