Betty M. Durstine

Betty M. Durstine, 87, of Mt. Pleasant (Bullskin Twp.) passed away peacefully Tuesday December 9, 2025 at her home while surrounded and comforted by her loving family. She was born July 30, 1938 in Mt. Pleasant a daughter of the late Merwin and Ruth Wadsworth Hamm. Betty was a graduate of the former Hurst High School in Mt. Pleasant Township with the Class of 1956. She had worked as a Secretary for Lee Durstine Construction of Mt. Pleasant for several years. She then was Co-Owner/Operator of Durstine Auto Parts in Acme for many years and also was co-owner of Tone and Tan in Mt. Pleasant. Betty was a member of the Paradise Church in Bullskin Township and a lifetime member of the Bridgeport Sportsman's Club. She enjoyed bowling and played in several different leagues in the area. She also loved fishing, traveling, gardening, and mowing her lawn. Betty will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her loving family, her children Milton L. Durstine, Jr. and wife Bonni of Acme, Dennis C. Durstine and wife Debra of Mt. Pleasant, Barry R. Durstine and wife Robin of Boswell, Brian S. Durstine and wife Dorothy of Mt. Pleasant, Trina L. Durstine and Chris Moore of Acme, her grandchildren Leah Heinbaugh, Leroy Durstine and wife Bethany, Leisha Belfiore and husband Tyler, Heidi Murphy and husband Chuck, Amy Keslar and husband Jack, Michael Durstine and wife Brittany, Barry Durstine and wife Jennifer, Lt. Richard Durstine,U.S. Navy, and Nina Cook and husband Ryan, her 11 great grandchildren, her siblings Shirley Coffman and husband Howard of Irwin, Joy Golkosky of Mt. Pleasant, Richard "Dick" Hamm and wife Mary of Butler, her sister-in-law Sandy Hamm of Youngwood, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Milton L. Durstine, a grandchild Denny Durstine, her sisters Bernice Miller, Joann Hamm, and Patty Mull, and her brothers Thomas Eugene Hamm, Merwin Hamm, Jr., Robert Hamm, and John "Jack" Hamm. Special thanks to these doctors and staff who took such good care of our mom; Dr. Agrawal, Anita and Austin, Dr. Higgins and Sheri and Michelle from Amedisys Hospice. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 2-8 PM in the Mark C. Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., at the corner of Route 711 and 146 Municipal Building Rd., Melcroft (724-455-2310), where a Funeral Service will be held Monday at 11:00 AM, with Dr. J. Mark Heckman, Pastor officiating. A Committal Service and interment will follow in the Mt. Nebo Cemetery, Champion.
