Rev. Carl D. Ritenour

Rev. Carl D. Ritenour, 95, a resident of Normalville and retired Pastor of the Hampton Community Church in Mill Run, passed away peacefully Friday July 28, 2023 at his home while surrounded and comforted by his loving family. He was born April 12, 1928 in Connellsville a son of the late Ralph E. and Helen Bistel Ritenour. Carl was a Veteran of WW II having served in the U.S. Air Force in the Pacific Theatre and in the Philippines Islands. Carl was a carpenter by trade and worked with his hands all his life. He also served as the Pastor of the Hampton Community Church in Mill Run for 43 years and was a servant for the community and had many brothers and sisters in faith that he loved. Carl will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving children Linda Morrison and husband Donald of Normalville, Timothy Ritenour and girlfriend Sherry of Connellsville, Arthur Ritenour and wife Jean of Connellsville, and Gary Ritenour and wife Jane of Normalville, his daughter-in-law Leslie Ritenour of Normalville, his grandchildren, Robin Reed of Normalville, Brenda Panzella and husband Dave of Connellsville, Lori Nicholson and husband Jeff of Normalville, Carla Dempsey and husband Gary of Bullskin Twp., Marla Burkholder and husband Greg of Mill Run, Heather Henry and husband Mark of Normalville, Nadene Copeland and partner Dr. William Kozak of Bullskin Twp, Heather Martucci of Connellsville, Donald Morrison, Jr. of Connellsville, Nikki Ritenour of Normalville, Shawnee Sawka and husband Travis of Normalville, Stephen Ritenour and wife Lauren of Connellsville, Bethany Black of Connellsville, David Streets and wife Lisa of Mt. Pleasant, Kayla Ritenour of Indian Head, and Amanda Keller and husband Michael of Stahlstown, 35 great grandchildren, and 14 great great grandchildren.Carl was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents Carl was predeceased by his wife Betty Lou Bryner Ritenour, on August 30, 2021, a granddaughter Stephanie Ritenour, a grandson Gary Ritenour, Jr., great great grandson D.J. Streets, 2 grandsons-in-law Jeremy Copeland and David Black, 2 brothers-in-law Ralph and Ronald Bryner, 2 nephews Allen and Joe Ritenour, and his brothers Floyd, Alfred, and Harry Ritenour. The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice, Dr. Paul Means, and Tara. The family also wants to thank Home Instead caretaker Renee, Pastor Bryan Swan, and Pastor Lee Maley. Family and friends will be received Thursday from 2-8 PM and Friday from 9-11 AM, the time of a Funeral Service, in the Mark C. Brooks Funeral Home Inc., at the corner of route 711 and 146 Municipal Building Rd., Melcroft (724-455-2310) with Pastor Lee Maley officiating. A Committal Service and interment will follow in the Normalville Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Valley VFW #12019 Honor Guard.
