Esther Geneva Grime

Esther Geneva (White) Grime went to be with her Lord and Savior November 18, 2025 at the age of 97. Esther was born April 15, 1928, daughter of the late Reuel James White and Myrtle (Richter) White. She spent most of her early years in Indian Head, Pennsylvania before moving to Pittsburgh as a teenager. She worked for many years as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone, Pittsburgh Piping and National Valve until she married Alfred James Grime in 1972. He was a loving, devoted husband, and they lived in Pittsburgh throughout their marriage. They enjoyed traveling and especially taking bus trips with their friends.They were married for 28 years until his death. Esther was a member of the Unity Community Church in Pittsburgh, and attended the New Hope Alliance Church after moving to Scottdale. While residing at Woodcrest Senior Living Community she attended services with the Rev. Frederick Bauer officiating. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the wonderful staff at Woodcrest Senior Living Community for providing a caring environment, and a family like atmosphere for Esther for over a decade. We would also like to thank the caring staff at Excela Health Homecare and Hospice for their dedication and care. She was blessed to have so many friends who would call or visit regularly. The family is grateful for all of those who blessed her life. Esther will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by her loving family, her sister Martha (White) Nadzam, brother Robert White, step daughter June Lynn Grime, step grandsons David Hollinger (Rebecca), James Hollinger (Vicki), step granddaughters Emily Hollinger and Melissa Brunlinger (Alan), step great grandson Thomas Hollinger (Heather), step great great granddaughters Coraline and Abigail Brunlinger, and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Esther was predeceased by her husband, Alfred James Grime, her parents Reuel James White and Myrtle (Richter) White, and seven siblings; Kenneth White, Wilfred White and wife Lois Gene, James D. White, James S. White, Orphagene (White) Reed and husband Charles Reed, Evadale (White) Hall and husband Frank Hall, Jr., Mildred (White) Miller and husband Robert Miller, her sister-in-law Clara (Neiderhiser) White, brother-in-law Edward Nadzam and her step daughter Lois Jean (Grime) Hollinger and her husband Leonard Hollinger. Family and friends will be received Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the hour of a Funeral Service, in the Mark C. Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., at the corner of Route 711 and 146 Municipal Building Rd,, Melcroft (724-455-2310) with Rev. Frederick L. Bauer officiating.
