Frank J. Richter

Frank J. Richter, 78, of Normalville, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday July 5, 2023, while in the Independence Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born January 1, 1945 in Normalville a son of the late Frank and Ettie Nicholson Richter. Frank was a graduate of Connellsville High School with the class of 1962. He went on to earn a degree in Electrical Engineering from Ohio State University and a Bachelors Degree in Business Management from Seton Hill College in Greensburg. Prior to his retirement Frank worked as the Melt Shop Manager for Latrobe Steel for 22 years. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Donegal VFW #6743. Frank was a member of King Solomon's Lodge #346 F&AM and a member of the Millertown Community Church. Frank loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. He also loved to grow and pick berries (and eat them), cutting firewood, and gardening. Frank will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving family, his wife of 55 years Connie M. Showman Richter, his children Amy Berger of Greensburg, Lori Richter and partner Matthew Boarts of Pittsburgh, Michael Richter and wife Jocelyn of Acme, and Jim Richter and wife Meagan of Somerset, his grandchildren Alexandra Berger of Greensburg, Morgan Berger of Arlington, VA., Sadie, Amaris, and Maura Richter all of Acme, and Isaac and Grace Richter both of Somerset, his sister Alicia Lanning of Normalville, a special niece Kitty of Virginia, numerous other nieces and nephews, and his beloved pet dog Carter. In addition to his parents Frank was predeceased by his sisters Nettie Jane Laws, Minnie Richter, Bertha Shultz, Hazel Wingrove, Dolly Rohm, and Betty Rohm, and his brothers Austin, Domer, Charles, Allen, and Herbert Richter. Family and friends will be received Friday from 2-8 PM in the Mark C. Brooks Funeral Home Inc., at the corner of Route 711 and 146 Municipal Building Rd., Melcroft (724-455-2310) where a Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Gordon Nelson officiating. A committal service with Military Rites bestowed by the Donegal VFW and American Legion Honor Guard will follow in the Keslar Cemetery, Acme.
