James S. Ray

James S. "Jim" Ray, 72, of Connellsville passed away peacefully Monday April 22, 2024 at his home, with his loving family by his side. He was born October 2, 1951 in Mt. Pleasant, a son of the late Joseph W. and Audrey Wilson Ray. Jim was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant Area High School. He retired as a Machinist having worked for Miller's Centrifugal Casting in Cecil, PA. Jim served in the Pennsylvania National Guard and was a member of St. Rita of Cascia R. C. Church in Connellsville. Jim loved traveling with his late wife Cheryl. Together they took many driving trips throughout the United States. They especially loved driving the California West Coast. Jim was a wonderful grandfather, and enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandson Dylan. Jim will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving son Todd S. Ray of Connellsville, his wonderful grandson Dylan J. Ray of Connellsville, his sister Rebecca Mihok and husband Steve of West Leisenring, his brothers-in-law Rich Sabatula of Uniontown and Kenneth Dumbauld, his sisters-in-law Donna Ray of Champion, Joyce Ray of Denver, CO., and Cindy Ray, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Jim was predeceased by his wife of 51 years Cheryl L. Orbin Ray on January 12, 2023, his sisters Debbie Dumbauld and Candy Ray, his brothers Joseph, David, and Dennis Ray, his sister and brother-in-law Patte and Herman Enderle, his sister-in-law Jhanna Sabatula, and his father and mother-in-law Charles and Joyce Orbin. Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass to be held Wednesday May 1, 2024 at 10:00 AM, in St. Rita of Cascia R. C. Church, 116 S. 2nd St., Connellsville, PA. 15425, with Rev. Paul Lisik as celebrant. A Committal Service and inurnment will follow in St. Rita's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, 103 Transit Dr., Uniontown PA. 15401, in memory of James S. Ray. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mark C. Brooks Funeral Home Inc., 146 Municipal Building Rd., Melcroft, PA. 15462 (724-455-2310).
