John Anthony Phillips

John Anthony Phillips, 86, of Champion passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday December 10, 2024 in Independence Frick Hospital, Greensburg. He was born February 9, 1938 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Anthony John and Rachela Mileto Phillips. John was a graduate of South Hills High School with the class of 1956. He also attended Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to his retirement John worked as a Senior Designer for PPG Glass Division in Pittsburgh. John served in the Army National Guard and was a very active member of the Donegal American Legion for many years. He also helped with the Wounded Warriors Project. John was a member of St. Raymond of the Mountains R.C. Church. John loved the outdoors. He was a member of the Ski Patrol and also a Ski Instructor at Seven Springs Resort and in Aspen Colorado for years. He was a member of the Mon Valley Ski Club, and the Golden Triangle Water Ski Club. He loved hunting, fishing, and golfing, and even had a hole in one. John will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving family, his longtime and devoted Life Partner, Linda Otto DeRose "Linda Moon" who he enjoyed traveling with all over the globe, his children Anthony John Phillips of Champion and Monica Jene Phillips of Pittsburgh, his wonderful grandson Anthony Michael Phillips of Pittsburgh, and his brother August Phillips and his wife Linda of Los Angeles, CA. In addition to his parents John was predeceased by his wife Mary Lou Rudavsky Phillips on December 7, 2012. Family and friends will be received Friday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM in the Mark C. Brooks Funeral Home Inc., at the corner of Route 711 and 146 Municipal Building Rd., Melcroft (724-455-2310). A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 10:00 AM in the St. Raymond of the Mountains R. C. Church, 164 School House Lane, Donegal PA 15628, with Rev. Anthony Onoko as celebrant. EVERYONE WHO WISHES TO ATTEND, PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH. A Committal Service and interment will follow in St. Raymond's Cemetery, Champion.
