Robert William "Bob" Rowan

Robert William "Bob" Rowan, 84, of Normalville, passed away peacefully Sunday October 27, 2024 at his home while surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 28, 1940 in Clinton a son of the late David Rowan and Mary Jane Geary Cutter. Bob began his working career with Cavanaugh Trucking and then went to work with Westmoreland Paving. He then became a member of Operating Engineers Local 66 in Pittsburgh and worked many years as a Heavy Equipment Operator, as a union member he also worked for Russell Industries and later retired from there. Bob was also the owner /operator of his own business, Rowan's Excavating for many years. Bob had several hobbies and most of them had something to do with working on engines. He enjoyed Tractor Pulling and was a member of the Equalizer Tractor Pulling Team, he raced cars and drove in many races at the Motordrome in Smithton in his car # 49, he built dune buggies, liked riding motor cycles, and enjoyed building garden tractors that he sold to people all over the area. He was a member of the Clinton Church of God. Bob will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his loving family, his wife of 62 years Bernice M. Nicholson Rowan, his daughter Miranda S. Amuso and husband Robert of Normalville, his grandchildren Keary Fulton and husband Kyle of Connellsville and Robert Clark and wife Courtney of Mt. Pleasant, his great grandchildren Kaylee and Matthew Fulton, his sisters Retha Zimmerman of Connellsville, Leah Quarrick and husband Walter of East Millsboro, PA., Jodee Kirchner of Beaver, and Jan Cutter of Greensburg, and his brother-in-law James Nicholson and wife Charlotte of Normalville and his sister-in-law Ella Reese of Normalville. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 2-8 PM in the Mark C. Brooks Funeral Home Inc., at the corner of Route 711 and 146 Municipal Building Rd., Melcroft (724-455-2310). Additional viewing will be held Thursday from 10 - 11 AM, the hour of a Funeral Service, in the Clinton Church of God, 406 Buchanan Rd., Normalville PA 15469, with Pastor Joseph Wingrove officiating.
