Betty Jean Richter

Betty Jean Ohler Richter, 86, of Normalville, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 16, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 15, 1937 in Connellsville, PA, the daughter of the late James and Ella Pletcher Ohler. She worked for the Connellsville School District, and retired from Connellsville State General Hospital. She attended Critchfield Missionary Alliance Church. Betty will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her husband of 27 years, Paul; her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Left to cherish her memory, and carry on her example of love and devotion, are her seven children and their spouses: The Dean Family of Sherry and Frank: grandchild Nikki (Dean) Rogers and spouse Jason Rogers, great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Sebastian Bierhals, and Henry Rogers, grandchild Aimee Elizabeth Dean (deceased), grandchild Bekki (Dean) Anderson and spouse Scott Anderson, and great-grandchildren Liliana and Emelia Anderson. The Welling Family of Bob and Linda: grandchild Josh Welling and spouse Erin, great-grandchildren Olivia and Ian Welling, grandchild Tim Welling and spouse Jill, and great-grandchildren Zoey and Lexi Welling. The Betters Family of Meme and Curt: grandchild Marissa (Betters) Fenwick, great-grandchildren Maylanna and AJ Fenwick, grandchild Joe Betters, grandchild Janae (Betters) DeVanney, spouse Jason, and great-grandchildren Carter, Kinley, and Xavier. The Hawk Family of Karen and Wendell: grandchild Steven J. Hawk (deceased on March 28, 2022) and surviving spouse Sharma, great-grandchild Brennen Hawk, grandchild Mandy (Hawk) Serra and spouse Jeff, and great-grandchildren Jackson, Jonah and Leo Serra. The Welling Family of Ron: grandchild Valerie Welling, great-grandchild Nathaniel Mills, grandchild Angie Welling, and grandchild Dawn Welling. The Gallo Family of Judy and Dan: grandchild Billy Addis and spouse Kara, great-grandchildren William, Jagger, Wyatt, and Madilyn Addis, grandchild Kayne Newcomer and spouse Megan, great-grandchild Hartley Newcomer, grandchild Lee Newcomer and spouse Corrianne, great-grandchildren Claire, Nash, and Aubree Newcomer, grandchild Alyssa Clark, spouse Ryan, and great-grandchild Mia. The Firestone Family of Janis and Mark: grandchild Jordan Killinger and spouse Susan, great-grandchildren Roman and Griffin Killinger, grandchild Jade (Firestone) Murphy and spouse Sean, great-grandchildren Aria and Leia Murphy, and grandchild Sadie Firestone. Also survived by stepchildren, stepgrandchildren, and stepgreat-grandchildren: Janet Savage, Christopher Keedy and spouse Mary, Clayton and Kevin Keedy, and Jamie Wingard, Tammy Tamblyn and spouse Waylon, and Andrew Savage, Paul David Richter and John Labriola. Betty was a wonderful cook and baker. She was gifted with a beautiful singing voice, and was selected to sing in the Billy Graham choir, along with her sister Janet. She enjoyed singing in the church choir. She had many lifelong friends from the old Connellsville Township School, whom she gathered with for their class reunions and luncheons. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her three sisters Edna Welling, Marie Ranker, and Janet Basinger, two brothers James and Roy Ohler, and the father of her children Harry J. Welling, Jr. Family and friends will be received at the MARK C BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC 146 Municipal Bldg Rd, Melcroft, PA 15462 (724) 455-2310 on Friday April 21, from 2 to 8PM. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday at 11AM in the funeral home with Pastor Randy Newell officiating. Interment will follow at Normalville Cemetery.
