Goldie Alberta Mowry

Goldie Alberta Mowry, 84, of Acme, died Wednesday November 22, 2023, in Connellsville, PA. She was born October 11, 1939, a daughter of the late Joseph and Ella Betz Kunkle. Prior to retirement, she worked at Melcroft Post Office as Postmaster. She was married to the love of her life, Harold Mowry, on June 28, 1958, in Hagerstown, MD. The two were married for 44 years before he passed away in 2002. Goldie was an active member of Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, where in the past she served as secretary and treasurer and taught Sunday School. Goldie enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband Harold, visits with her friends and family, cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins, and spending time with her grandchildren.Goldie will be dearly missed and warmly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt to her family. Goldie is survived by her children, Kelley Pelzer and her husband Robert of Acme, PA, and their son, Luke of Hollywood, FL; Brian Mowry and his wife, Marianne, and their sons, Daniel and David (Sara), and Daniel's daughter Eden of Elgin, TX; Diane Rulli and her husband Ralph of Berkley, MI, and their children Megan Rulli (Christopher) of Boiling Springs, PA, and son Benjamin Rulli of Jonestown, PA; Donna Cousino of Bowling Green, OH, and her son Matthew Cousino (Aubrey) of Maumee, OH; and her godson Joseph Clark and his wife Lisa of Acme, PA, and their children Christian, Lauren, Victoria, Wheeler, and Noah; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. The family also wants to thank Stephanie Porterfield and Goldie's Niece, Renee Caruso and Husband Todd, all of whom provided loving care and support to Goldie in recent years. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Joseph Kunkle, Margaret Clark, Donald Kunkle, Louella Ferreira, Stanley Kunkle, Kate Geary, and Mary Lou Mitchell, and her nephews Michael Hall and Mark Geary. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 2-8 PM in the Mark C. Brooks Funeral Home Inc., at the corner of Route 711 and 146 Municipal Building Rd. Melcroft (724-455-2310). A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 194 Main St., Donegal PA. 15628, with Pastor Keith Deckinger officiating, (Everyone please go directly to the church). A Committal Service and Interment will follow in the Donegal Cemetery.
